Marcos leads VamosVentures, a Los Angeles-based Venture Capital fund focused on generating alpha and impact by investing in the best and brightest Latinx/Diverse tech entrepreneurs in the USA. Backed by leading foundations, pensions, corporates, family offices and national Hispanic business leaders, VamosVentures is the first US Latino owned venture capital fund with a mandate to specifically invest in early-stage Latinx & diverse founders to drive returns and impact through wealth creation in diverse communities, economic social mobility, and unique tech solutions.
Marcos began his career at IBM and then joined the Boston Consulting Group after business school. At BCG Marcos worked across industries and functional areas in the US and Latin America. Marcos then entered the private equity industry, first at Los Angeles-based Bastion Capital (an early Latino-owned PE fund) and later at the Global Environment Fund (“GEF”, an early sustainability and impact fund based in Washington DC), and Darby Private Equity, where he co-led the investment practice for the US Hispanic consumer market, also in Washington DC. In between funds, Marcos co-founded a Boston-based tech company where he and his partners raised $10mm and later sold the company to a strategic investor.
Marcos was born and raised in Los Angeles to Mexican immigrant parents, graduated from Brown University, earned an MBA from Harvard, and now resides in downtown Los Angeles. Marcos can be reached at Marcos@VamosVentures.com.
